Dog Lady Anya:
The Heart Behind American Caniner

“My journey began decades ago in the former Soviet Union, learning the stoic language of working dogs. Today, that childhood passion has evolved into a life’s mission in Akron. Through my experience breeding and raising litters, I witnessed how a dog’s future is often written in the whelping box, giving me an invaluable perspective on the first stages of development.

As a former Veterinary Technician, I spent years at the intersection of medicine and behavior. This clinical background equipped me with a deep knowledge of canine care, allowing me to offer a “peace of mind” service rooted in total well-being. My work in the show ring as a handler who has championed several dogs further sharpened my eye for how selective breeding shapes a dog’s temperament and genetic memory.

Living with the rare, primitive Thai Ridgeback—and earning over thirty titles in obedience, agility, and conformation—has been my greatest teacher. These indigenous canines act on raw instinct, and my success with them proves that true partnership is built on respecting a dog’s roots. Even as a seasoned professional, I remain a dedicated student, continually training my own dogs and attending advanced classes to refine my craft.

I have found my purpose: helping dogs cohabitate successfully with people in this modern, technological age. In a short century, the canine role has shifted from the field to the living room. I serve as the connecting link for those seeking happy companionship, ensuring the ancient soul of the dog can flourish alongside our ever-changing lifestyle.”
